A Critical Companion: a public sharing as part of the Jalan Besar Fellowship 2025

  • Sing Lit Station Dickson Road Singapore Singapore (map)

What are the arts critic’s old habits and new practices?

How might the critic move between print tradition and digital disruption?

What are the tensions between the roles of critical interlocutor and content creator?

In this cozy sharing, Corrie Tan, one of the recipients of Sing Lit Station’s 2025 Jalan Besar Fellowship, will reflect on 15 years of critical companionship in Singapore. Her creative practice so far spans 1,500 articles, 5 media outlets and 1 PhD. Through this body of work, she will consider how the critic might evolve in step with the artistic ecology she’s embedded within—in both reparative and sustainable ways.

This sharing session will be moderated by Kathy Rowland (co-founder and head of research, ArtsEquator). Join us for light snacks and tea, spilled or otherwise.

Free with registration.
