Archiving theatre

I've been doing some part-time work in the Victoria & Albert Museum's Theatre and Performance archives at Blythe House. Over the past two to three months, I've put together a digital catalogue of the pioneering UK women's theatre collective Monstrous Regiment for the theatre database AusStage, which has so far catalogued predominantly Australian theatre productions. This pilot project catalogues the group's touring history from 1976 to 1993, and involved sieving through about 30 boxes of old programmes, press clippings, and handwritten production files in the Monstrous Regiment company archive. You can view it here: https://www.ausstage.edu.au/pages/organisation/12294

Other archives I've loved exploring recently:

  • The Necessary Stage (Singapore) has just launched the beta version of their digital repository in conjunction with their 30th anniversary: TNS Archives
  • My close friends Michelle (playwright) and Xi Jie (performance artist) recently collaborated a poetry project examining the recent closure of the Sungei Road flea market in Singapore, called Funeral in 25 Objects
